Remarks:
U2 make an unannounced appearance at the festival, playing a 9-song set on the back of a truck bed. About two dozen fans close to the stage pass out during U2′s set and have to be taken to a nearby hospital. Freddie White joins U2 on guitar during Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door. Bono thanks the crowd for being supportive of U2 when the band was just starting out. The Festival lineup included: Cyprus Mine, Porcelyn Tears, The Stargazers, Freddie White and Friends.

Remarks:
U2 perform in the ‘Live Aid’ concert. The band was scheduled to perform Pride (In The Name Of Love), but they ran out of time because “Bad” was played for nearly 13 minutes. During “Bad,” Bono breaks one of Bob Geldof’s rules when he climbs down from the stage to dance with a girl in front of the crowd.

The Festival lineup included: The Ramones, R.E.M., Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, The Style Council, Depeche Mode, Paul Young and the Royal Family, U2 and Joe Cocker. Joe Cocker was originally meant to play after Depeche Mode but instead performs after U2. During U2′s set, The Edge adds an extended instrumental intro to October.
