December 19, 1987. Tempe, AZ. Sun Devil Stadium.
Sound Quality:
Fair soundboard. There is a slight hiss that can be heard throughout the CD. The sound also seems a bit too slow.
Comments:
The inside of the cover has color photos of the band in concert, propably from the show or one of The Joshua Tree Tour shows. The CD also contains the Spanish version of “Mother’s Of The Disappeared”. This is the sixth time “Mothers Of The Disappeared” is played and not the second (although Bono says so). Bono has a great time instructing the crowd what to sing. He also adds a couple of lines from “Drowning Man” as part of his ad-lib. [According to Pimm Jal de la Parra’s ‘U2 Live- A Concert Documentary’, this is definitely the December 19th show. On the other hand, this version of “With Or Without You” is, as far as I can tell, the same as the version that appeared in the ‘Rattle And Hum’ movie, which was claimed to have been recorded on the 20th. At least this lays to rest claims that the Rattle And Hum version was not really live].
This is one of three of the original pressings on this label.
