Better Business Bureau warns U2 fans of potential ticket scams

The Better Business Bureau is warning U2 fans buying last-minute tickets who still might not have found what they’re looking for.

Spokesperson Evan Kelly says whenever a big-name act holds a concert, scammers will look to make a few extra bucks from fans desperate to see the show.

“Particularly if a show is sold out, then the need gets amped up and people are going to be willing to take more risks to get hold of tickets. And we’re just want to say to people be careful, make sure that you’re getting legitimate tickets and buying from reputable vendors and that you’re not sending money to someone you don’t know because if you wire money to somebody, it’s as good as gone.”

Kelly says even transactions that look above board can be bogus, and buyers should always be vigilant and says anyone buying tickets should make sure the section and seat numbers match the venue.

“Even if you see tickets, you have to be very careful sometimes because they can be reprinted very, very easily and they look really good.”

He advises fans to meet the ticket seller in person, and if possible in front of Vancouver Police headquarters.
