Did you think it was possible for night two to be even better than night one? I didn’t, but I was wrong! What made U2’s second night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver superior to the kick off night of the tour, in my opinion, were these moments:
- Miracle Drug – and as if this wasn’t enough…
- …Miracle Drug into Bad, which was total perfection as always AND included a super short snipped of Moment of Surrender. And Bono: “Anybody who wants to be free from addiction tonight…” Love!
- A new arrangement for Miracle Drug, which was a little weird at first but Bono caught his stride. I would, however, have liked to see more of the “singing forcefully at each other” thing that Bono and Edge did during this song on the Vertigo tour.
- The Sgt. Pepper snippet at the end of Beautiful Day, and Bono’s “Where did that come from?” Because he looked at Edge when he said it, that moment appeared to be delightfully unscripted!
- Of course, the BB King tribute of When Love Comes to Town. We all wanted it, and they didn’t disappoint. Nobody does a memorial tribute like U2! And those of you on Twitter who said you hoped they would do Angel of Harlem for BB, well…go back and watch Rattle and Hum. Then look at this, so you know who Angel of Harlem was actually written for. I say this with love!
- Angel of Harlem! We got them both, so everyone’s happy.
- Lots of talk about prayer, which I LOVE!
- California is played in full, and The Troubles is not played at all.
