Hitler, Stalin, GA Line Leaders…which dictator is/was worse?
So, I’m going to U2 in two days and it will be my first time going GA. My nutty U2 friends talked me into it, even though I have no intention of standing one second in the GA line. I’ve already blogged about why I have no interest in standing in a GA line, the main reason being that I view it as a colossal waste of time, but today’s rant is directed at the “So called” leader of the pack, the self imposed GA line leader. Do you believe the arrogance of these people? Camping out in front of the venue three days before the show, doesn’t make you a leader, it makes you unemployed or someone that has very little going on in their lives. Is that a blanket statement….yep, it is! I also believe it is fairly accurate. “You going to work today, play with the kids, volunteer….no, I’m going to claim my stake as GA line leader!” “But the show’s not until Friday, it’s only Tuesday.” The worse line leaders are the ones from out of town. “Hey, while in Boston, one of the most historic towns in America, did you see the old North Church, the Freedom Trail or the Paul Revere House? No, I slept outside North Station and sucked in the fumes from Causeway Street for three days.” Makes sense!
Do the “so called” leaders of these lines wear this moniker as a badge of honor? That and .10 cents will get you a Cup of Joe. 😉 (see what I did there). Seriously, who gives a flying f*ck, who’s 1st in line! While you’re writing meaningless numbers on people’s hands, I’ll be getting my drink on across the street at the Harp, laughing at you. Believe me when I tell you, that I will get to any position I want to on the GA floor and I won’t have any number on my hand to get there, either. Can you imaging the balls of some guy coming up to you and informing you that you can’t enter now because you don’t have a number? Say that to me and you’ll be on the wrong end of a pile driver right smack dab in the middle of Causeway Street.
Listen, I get wanting to be in line for the possibility of meeting the band, but going specifically to be 1st and inherit the title “Line leader” disgusts me on so many levels. Line leader? What is this 3rd grade? Who’s going to be the hall monitor? Give me a break. Beware of small men with big ideas & who happen to be “Line Leader?” Beware of people like myself who couldn’t give two f*cks about the line leader.
*I won’t be posting this Sunday because you know, I’M GOING TO U2!!!! If I’m not in a coma, I’ll try to scrap something together for next Wednesday. If you’re coming to the shows in Boston, have a great time. I’ll be at the Harp on Causeway street hosting a U2 Fan Meet Up beginning at 4:00 PM this Friday. Stop by and say hi, except you line leader, I wouldn’t want you to lose your precious spot. 😉

???? love it! Hope the Harp has Guinness for himself …. See you on the line, not!
Personally, I do not understand the GA line either. I am more than happy to be anywhere on the floor or in the building, for that matter. I guess some where it as a badge of honor. I am guessing the younger generation of U2 fans are exited to lineup. I may have done it when I was 18 or 19 years old, but at 48, I just do not have an interest in it. I think I have become somewhat jaded over the years. Hahaha. Enjoy the show.
